Vocational Skills Training Programme
In South Africa, one of the most critical challenges we face is the high unemployment rate among young adults and school leavers. With an educational background often not aligned with market needs, many students find themselves confronting a stagnant job market, lacking the skills and experience essential for securing meaningful employment.
Programme Overview
The Amy Foundation’s Vocational Skills Training Programme is designed specifically for high school students in grades 9-12, equipping them with the vital knowledge and practical skills required for various job functions. This transformative programme empowers students to explore their career options while providing them with invaluable hands-on experience in their chosen fields before graduation.
By bridging the gap between our After School Programmes and the Youth Skills Development Programme, this initiative ensures that learners acquire skills that are directly applicable in the workplace. This competitive edge enhances their readiness for the job market and facilitates a smoother transition from education to employment.
Currently, our Vocational Skills Training Programme encompasses:
- Greening and Environmental Education: Educating students about sustainable practices and environmental stewardship, instilling a sense of responsibility towards our planet.
- Debating: Developing critical thinking, public speaking, and communication skills through structured debates on current issues, fostering confident and articulate individuals.
- Career Guidance: Offering insights into various career paths, enabling students to make informed choices about their futures.
- Coding: Introducing students to the world of technology and programming, equipping them with essential skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s job market.
The Vocational Skills Training Programme is more than just a course; it is a gateway to opportunities that can change lives. If you’re interested in learning more about how we are equipping the youth of South Africa with the skills they need to succeed, please reach out to us!
