After School Programme

In South Africa, many children leave school each day only to face unsafe neighbourhoods and homes, often without adult supervision. After school programmes play a crucial role in not only keeping these children safe but also reducing dropout rates, enhancing academic performance, and developing essential life skills.

The Amy Foundation’s After School Programme provides children (ages 5-18) from under-resourced and disadvantaged communities—primarily in townships—a secure and nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Our comprehensive range of programmes includes:

• Arts & Culture
  Offering marimba, brass, choir, hip-hop, ballet, and traditional dance, empowering children to express themselves creatively.
  
  
• Sports
  Engaging activities like soccer and netball to promote physical fitness and teamwork.
  
  
• Greening & Environment
  Instilling environmental awareness and responsibility.
  
  
• Academic Support
  Focused on literacy and numeracy and helping children excel in their studies.
  
  
• Life Skills
  Equipping children with the personal and social tools needed to navigate life’s challenges confidently.

Programme details

Youth can participate in our After School Programmes from Monday to Thursday afternoons every week. These sessions are held at Mimosa Primary School, Cedar Primary School based in Bonteheuwel, Bongolethu Primary School in Browns Farm, Philippi ,  Siyazingisa Primary School, Gugulethu, St Mary’s Primary School, Nyanga and Bonteheuwel High School in Bonteheuwel.

Each week, we welcome up to 1400  children who benefit from the variety of enriching activities we offer.
