Greening & Environment

The Amy Foundation’s Greening & Environment programme introduces children to the importance of caring for the natural world. Through hands-on learning, participants gain knowledge about crucial topics such as water conservation, recycling, and pollution.

One of the programme’s key components is the establishment and cultivation of on-site vegetable gardens at disadvantaged schools. These gardens not only provide fresh produce for the school and surrounding community, but they also teach children valuable life skills related to food security, sustainability, and healthy eating.

In addition to gardening, the children engage in outdoor learning experiences through holiday camps and field trips to botanical gardens and environmental centres. These outings foster a deeper connection with nature and empower children to make environmentally conscious and sustainable lifestyle choices.

Programme reach
Currently, the programme operates in various capacities at  Bonteheuwel High School and Siayzingisa Primary School  , involving 40  learners. As it continues to grow, we aim to further instil a passion for the environment and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
