“I grew up loving nails and makeup, but I only found out it was my passion until I attended some beauty lessons. It was 2020 at the time. I immediately quit my job to start up a beauty business. Although I had no guaranteed clients, I wasn’t scared to take the first step. Slowly but surely, after much hard work and putting the business out on social media, it quickly grew into something quite significant.
A friend then told me about the Amy Foundation and their beauty classes. I knew I wanted to improve my skills, so I was willing to pay for the course. The neat thing was that it was all free!! After the three months, I had received a lot of training in beauty. I was now a professional in my field, I am so grateful to the foundation for the opportunity. If I could, I would do it over and over again, it was such a good experience.
I am now a full-time beauty therapist, with a professional business thanks to the work and help the people at Amy gave me. I now have my own students and can pass on the skills I learned at Amy onto them. My goal is to leave the townships and set up a salon in a safe area in town.
All my success can be based on two things. My fiery drive and urge to succeed, and the Amy Foundation. I always pushed through every problem I ever came across, but the foundation taught me things I couldn’t have taught myself. How to conduct yourself, how to be professional, how to be a good entrepreneur. Beauty isn’t everything that’s taught there. Because of all my success, I have been able to buy a brand-new car with cash.
My words of wisdom for anyone considering starting up a business. Be determined no matter what happens. Turn yourself to people who want to help you and can teach you invaluable things, like the Amy Foundation. Lastly, just do it. Nothing will ever happen unless YOU set your mind to it.
