Vacancy: Literacy and Numeracy-Intermediate Phase Facilitator (Tutor)

An exciting job has become available within our afterschool programmes department at MIMOSA Primary school, Cape Town.
The Amy Foundation is a non-profit organisation (NGO) that offers various programmes to develop and empower youth, ages 5-18, reaching over 600 learners everyday living in challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape. Our centres strives to have a very positive impact on the youth as well as the communities and society in which they live.
We are recruiting for a Part-time, experienced, well-organized, attention to detail, flexible and driven individual to occupy the Literacy and Numeracy-Intermediate Phase Facilitator (Tutor) position at MIMOSA Primary school. The Literacy and Numeracy-Intermediate Phase Facilitator (Tutor) facilitator will report directly to the Centre Co-coordinator.


  • Recruit and supervise learners.
  • Facilitate and provide lessons to learners.
  • To recruit, maintain and supervise the minimum number of attendances of learners within your classroom.
  • To maintain the agreed minimum number of 20 learners daily.
  • Complete all necessary administration and preparation for lessons.
  • To develop and create effective learning material (Lesson plan and resources) for the development of your programme.
  • To ensure weekly classroom attendance register are kept and completed for are all learners for submission to the coordinators.
  • To be a role model to all learners.


  • Must have Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or level 4 certificate- (Essential)
  • Clear Criminal record- (Essential)
  • Must have 1-2 years’ experience in tutoring and facilitation of learners (Grade R-8) (Essential)
  • Must have Strong background in tutoring and facilitation. (Essential)
  • Relevant qualification- Advantageous (ECD)
  • Intermediate report writing (Weekly and quarterly reports)- Ability to write reports.
  • Good understanding of completing learner attendance registrations and registration process.
  • Proficient in MS Office-Microsoft word, excel and power point. (Essential)
  • Ability to create a lesson plan creatively.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English and Afrikaans. (Essential)
  • Professional attitude and appearance

  • Per hour


  • 2-3 hours per day, Monday-Thursday.
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holiday if and when required.
