Amy Foundation Spring Ball 2017

The Amy Foundation ( Formerly The Amy Biehl Foundation)  has been instrumental in changing so many young lives and we continue to do so daily.

“We believe that it is only through your support that we are able to stay true to our mission of  providing a safe environment in challenged and vulnerable communities, where we develop emotionally well rounded children and youth, who make positive life choices and become contributing members of society,” says Managing Director Kevin Chaplin

To continue the good work that the Amy Foundation does, on Saturday, 2nd September  we will be hosting the  annual Amy Foundation Gala Dinner and Auction, hosted by Century City Conference Center . The target for the evening is to raise R1 million through the auction and pledges from guests.

This year’s line-up includes performances by the Amy Foundation learners who will showcase their talents.  140 Amy Foundation children will take to the stage in various forms of dance like  Traditional, Kwaito and Gumboots as well as the Marimba to welcome you and get you on your feet. Directors and Choreographers Aviva Pelham, Roxy Levy and Paul Johnson have worked tirelessy with these young performing artists. To complete the fabulous evening we have the incredible 3 Tons of Fun performing…. “3 Tons of Fun are delighted to be involved with the Amy Foundation’s annual fundraiser in 2017.  We are very passionate about supporting charities that do such good work and we love the fact that we can give back to the community in this way.” says  Artiste Manager, Gelnda Eberlein.  The amazingly funny Alan Committie will emcee.

The event proved hugely successful last year, with the Foundation raising in excess of R 925 000.

Auctioneer Joey Burke will once again be inspiring guests to dig deep into their pockets to help raise those essential funds. Fantastic packages, experiences and items  including a boutique European cruise courtesy of Uniworld (worth R80, 000), game reserve breaks and various other getaways will also encourage guests to part with their hard earned cash in support of a great cause.

The Amy Foundation is a non- profit organisation that specialises in programmes to develop and empower youth (5 to 35 years of age) in the challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape. The programmes place a focus on the creative side of the children’s brain, and supplement the shortcomings of the educational system in the townships of South Africa. There are huge inadequacies in the schools which we work, creating a great need for our programmes. Reaching 2000 youngsters every day, our centers are having a very positive effect on the youth as well as the communities in which they live. The foundation provides educational and cultural activities that offer students healthy alternatives to all the negative influences within their society unlock their creative talent and create future emotionally well rounded individuals, leaders and entrepreneurs for South Africa.

The Foundation seeks to actively respond to the needs and interest of the youth; parents and the communities by providing engaging and challenging activities that promote the development of academic, social and personal skills.

The Amy Foundation operates in six centers which provide the following services in challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape, including Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Phillipi, Athlone and Bonteheuwel. Programmes run Monday to Thursday is offered and a light meal is offered daily to each child and youth.
