Academic support
Early literacy and numeracy are essential for empowering children and ensuring a brighter future. They form the foundation for academic success, social development, critical thinking, problem-solving, and future participation in the workforce. As former UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova said: “The future starts with the alphabet.”
Programme
Our Academic Support programme focuses on improving literacy and numeracy skills among preschool, primary school learners, offering support for both the Foundation Phase (grades R–3) and the Intermediate Phase (grades 4–7).
We strive to develop a love for learning through various activities, including:
- Supplementing the national curriculum in a fun, interactive way to strengthen reading, writing, speaking, and numeracy skills.
- Weekly reading and numeracy clubs at our after-school centres, encourage learners to practise their skills through engaging activities and themed conversations.
- Guest readers and math mentors who read stories and guide children through problem-solving exercises, making learning an enjoyable experience.
- Educational outings to expand learners’ knowledge of the world and apply their skills in real-life situations.
- Morning literacy and numeracy programmes supporting English and math teachers in classrooms.
- Facilitator training to utilize interactive techniques such as word games, writing exercises, math puzzles, role play, and paired learning.
Spelling Bee & Competitions
To motivate and challenge our learners, we run an annual Spelling Bee where children from different schools showcase their literacy skills. This exciting event helps build confidence and sharpens their focus on language, while other numeracy-based competitions encourage practical application of their math skills.

And offers a unique peer reading programme. Programme start at 3pm until 4.30 pm. We assist from grades 3 to 9 . The programme runs from March until October.
