On the 16th of July 2017, Beads for Africa owned by Farhat Danyal former president of Rotary Sea Point will be hosting a charitable event in celebration of Mandela Day. This event is supported by Ward Councillor Shayne Ramsay.
The event will be in support of Knysna Relief, Amy Foundation, and The Red Cross Children’s Hospital. The Sea Point Community will hold a knit-a-thon to knit blankets, scarves, & beanies, which will be given away as part of the relief efforts. Businesses and locals can also drop off boxed items for Knysna Relief. There will be a raffle for a chance to win a 2 night accommodation for 2 people at the Wilderness Hotel, marimba dancers will dance to the tunes of a live Marimba Band and Rotary Sea Point will showcase their projects for the uplifting of the community and other noteworthy projects that will be on display. Our guest from the city, Alderman JP Smith will address a gathering at 12:30pm.
In preparation for this event, we are making posters with information and the names of the businesses in the community who would like to support this event along with future events. The posters will be distributed by The Rotary Foundation and Cape Tourism. We would like each business on Regent Road to place a poster on their window shop and possibly add a Mandela Special for the day.
In addition, we would also like to inform you all of a planned bigger street festival in the months to come. We are currently forming a Sea Point Festival Committee for this bigger event. We would like to invite any business owner on Regent Road who is interested in joining the committee to help plan this future Sea Point Street Point Festival.
